Black Slippers

Black Slippers

The covers fell onto the cryptic night,

Her story was torn from the pages of a movie.

The ballet slippers tucked in her draw

Filled the shoe box.

…………………………………..

He filled her head with posies.

And she filled him with her spite.

The quiet offering of the ballet shoes

Had her deeply reverenced with fond memories.

…………………………………..

But the offering could not

uphold her statuesque form.

She bent and curled into the covers

The crypt of her night.

………………………………………

The dancer in her heart moaned.

And the subtle hint of his perfumed beard

Surrounded her.

She would exempt him,

From this sorrow and bury his heart

With the others who had stolen

Into her dreams and tried to jive her

Into ecstasy dancing in her black slippers.
